Police: 2 Males Dressed As Women Robbed Fort Worth Family Dollar
UPDATE: Police confirmed Monday that while two people were taken into custody only one was charged with being involved in the Family Dollar robbery.
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Two men dressed as women, tied up employees and robbed a Family Dollar in Fort Worth Saturday evening, police say. The two people were taken into custody after a heavy police and SWAT response at the store.
Police say officers responded to the business in the 7300 block of John T. White Road in regards to a robbery. The initial call stated there were two individuals who were armed with handguns and forcing customers and employees to the ground.
When officers arrived at the scene, one person fled on foot, and they believed the other was still inside the Family Dollar, which prompted SWAT and K-9 to arrive at the scene.
Authorities say two people dressed as women entered the business and tied up two employees. The two then emptied the store's safe.
Initially, one of them was taken into custody without incident. However, after reviewing surveillance video, police say the second person never left the Family Dollar. Officers continued to search the store and eventually found the second person hiding inside. He was also taken into custody.
The identities of the suspects have not been identified. There were no injuries during the incident.
