The Heat Goes & The Rain Comes

Sunday was the first 100 degree of the season, the latest we've waited for one since 2007. The "average" arrival date is June 30. The heat of late will leave for a while. One more 100 degree Monday though we'll have lots of cloud cover by afternoon. It gets hot Monday, but it's changing in a big way.

Rain chances Monday afternoon will mostly be along the Red River. Afternoon storms could produce microburst winds and frequent lightning. By late Monday night, the rain will move into the Metroplex as a cold front arrives.

That cold front is to our south on Tuesday, we'll be in the low 90s. On Wednesday, it'll be a stationary front to our south but additional clouds and a northeast wind will keep us in the 80s. The stationary front will help bring in some big rains that move in Wednesday night and Thursday.

Highs in the 80s and 1 inch rains in July? That doesn't happen very often. Just look at the last five years.

Here is the extended. Relief for the lawns and gardens and perhaps a recharge for the area lakes. Nice when you get that in July!
