PLANO (CBS11) - An apartment complex in Plano saw some of the most concentrated damage in one area after severe storms Wednesday night.

Hundreds of tenants spent Thursday cleaning up.

The good news is the apartment management tells us no one was hurt, and no one will be displaced, which is really amazing when you look at the damage the storm did to these buildings.

Wes Roberts kept three pieces of hail as a reminder of what sent him and many of his neighbors scrambling for shelter when glass started flying.

"The sirens went off, so I went ahead and went in the bathroom, got in the bathtub, dug down until the sirens actually went off, came back out assessed the damage, and this is what I got," Roberts said.

With his front window shattered, Roberts looked outside to find the ground covered with hail.

"Completely looked like a war zone. It's pretty incredible what weather can do," Roberts said.

One building over, Grace Angulo grabbed her children, and they huddled together in a room away from the windows.

"Scary because it's entering your home, and it's definitely flying glass, Angulo said.

Robert Rodgers was one of the few lucky ones whose apartment windows survived, but he didn't escape without taking a hit.

"From the balcony you could look, and I saw my glass on my front windshield break," Rodgers said, "I saw the hail, and I really couldn't believe it 'cause I hadn't seen anything like that ever in my life."

The parking lot may have taken the worst beating with virtually every car pockmarked with dents and many more with shattered windshields.

"Get up in the morning. You try to be refreshed as you can. Come out and assess all the damage, and you know it's actually worse than what you think," Roberts said.

Tenants received an email assuring them that management would cover the cost of broken windows and structural damage, but many spent the day contacting their renters insurance and car insurance companies about damage to their own property.
