Gun Advocates Mill Part Of Handgun On State Capitol Steps

AUSTIN (CBS 11 NEWS) - In front of the state capitol, gun rights advocates with the group Come and Take it Texas, used a machine to make the lower part of a gun and a point.
Murdoch Pizgatti, founder of the group, says, "Come and Take it Texas is the front line of gun rights."
The machine is called a Ghost-Gunner, and advocates say it's the first of its kind to allow people to mill the lower part of a gun themselves.
While federal laws regulate machines like it, state laws do ot.
But gun advocates like Pizgatti say they're using the Ghost-Gunner to show their support for allowing people to openly carry firearms on college campuses and in public -- without licensing.
Referring to the Second Amendment Pizgatti said, "It says thou shall not be infringed, licensing, permits, and regulations they put on my right to have a firearm is an overreach."
But not everyone wants to drop all restrictions or the machine.
A woman named Betsy, who didn't want to give her last name, commented, "I think it's a pretty cool toy, but in the hands of the wrong person, they're extremely dangerous."
Betsy says while she disagreed with the group, she says she never felt threatened. "They've been friendly to me. I've asked them questions. They're peaceful, and as a citizen, I want everyone to have a voice, so this is cool."
Many Republican state lawmakers support open carry, many Democratic lawmakers do not. But Republicans remain firmly in control of the legislature.
