LOS ANGELES (CBSDFW) - Actor Dan Haggerty, best known for his role in TV's "The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams" died Friday morning from cancer, according to his manager. He was 74.

His death was confirmed to CBSLA by Haggerty's manager and longtime friend Terry Bomar.

Haggerty, a former animal trainer, played Grizzly Adams in both the 1974 film and the 1977-79 TV series.

He was diagnosed with spine cancer in Aug. 2015, according to Bomar. He had fought it aggressively and enjoyed the holidays with his family before taking a turn for the worse on Thursday, Bomar said.
