HOUSTON (AP) - A North Texas man sent to death row for fatally shooting his ex-wife four years ago during a domestic dispute has lost an appeal before the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.

Micah Brown of Greenville was convicted of killing his former wife, Stella Ray, in 2011 while she was in her car making a 911 call to report he was following her and harassing her. Their two small children were with Ray when evidence showed Brown pulled up next to her and opened fire with a shotgun.

Attorneys' for the 36-year-old Brown unsuccessfully argued evidence at his 2013 trial was legally insufficient to support his conviction and death sentence, that some evidence was improperly admitted and that the prosecutor's closing argument and the judge's jury charge were improper.
