2 People Dead After Wrong-Way Crash In Grapevine

GRAPEVINE (CBSDFW.COM) - Police in Grapevine are investigating a deadly wrong-way crash that left two people dead early Thursday morning. The fatal incident happened shortly after 4:30 a.m. along the eastbound lanes of State Highway 114, near State Highway 26.
According to authorities, a driver traveling out of Irving, going west in the eastbound lanes, first hit a vehicle in the 500 block of State Highway 114. The innocent driver in that crash was not injured.
However, the wrong-way driver did not stop there. He continued along the highway, ultimately plowing head-on into another vehicle in the 2000 block of State Highway 114.
The driver of the wrong-way vehicle was a 26-year-old man from Grapevine in a silver Toyota RAV4. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The second driver, a 52-year-old man from Fort Worth in a red Pontiac Sunfire, was injured and transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Grapevine. He also later died from his injuries.
Officials have not yet released the names of either deceased driver. It is not known if drugs or alcohol played any factor in this fatal collision.
The eastbound side of the highway was shut down early Thursday morning while police conducted an investigation. The road has since been opened back up to traffic.
