GRAND PRAIRIE (CBSDFW.COM) - Two grandparents are grieving after their 4-year-old granddaughter was murdered in Grand Prairie.
Leiliana Wright died on March 13 after she was rushed to the hospital. The Tarrant County medical examiner found blunt force trauma and called the little girl's death a homicide.
Alisa Clakley is the girl's grandmother who took care of her for until she was 2 while her mother was in prison.
"It's just hard to fathom, that this precious thing that we raised and fed and taught her things, and played with is gone. I'm just waiting for her to walk through that door, and its not ever going to happen again."
She said after the girl's mother got out of prison, they very rarely saw her or their granddaughter, and at one point had to go to court to find out where she was.
"It went well for about 5 or 6 months and then it just stopped. She just compelty took her away from us. And I just dont understand it. All I know is we will never see our baby girl again." Clakley said.
Police said they are sorting through the evidence to come up with a timeline. So far no arrests were made.
