Grand Prairie Police Chase Suspect Arrested

GRAND PRAIRIE (CBSDFW.COM) - A traffic stop in Grand Prairie late Thursday night turned into an hour-long police chase that traveled through parts of three different cities and involved four different law enforcement agencies.

Authorities were trying to stop a vehicle that was driving erratically and speeding. But the driver refused to pull over, instead leading officers on a chase that ran through several neighborhoods not far from the Southwest Center Mall in Dallas.

Officers with the Grand Prairie Police Department and deputies from the Dallas County Sheriff's Office were eventually able to spike the vehicle and damage its tires. The chase ended along the service road of Highway 67 near Gannon Lane. The Texas Department of Public Safety and the Dallas Police Department also assisted in the chase.

The suspect continued to struggle with officers and had to be hit with both pepper spray and a Taser. He was ultimately taken into custody with no injuries to officers or anybody else.

In addition to the original traffic violation, a spokesman with the Grand Prairie Police Department said that the suspect will also be charged with evading arrest.
