FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A Grand Prairie boy who spent his savings on smoke detectors had a special surprise for a girl who lost family members in a fire.

Sunday 9-year-old Hector Montoya along with the City of Fort Worth proclaimed Sunday Princess Abigail Setoviano day.

Setoviano's mother and twin sister died in a house fire earlier in 2014.

The home did not have a working smoke detector.

After hearing about the tragedy Montoya along with fire fighters handed out free smoke detectors to families in need.

"It makes me feel happy, to be helping out Abigail and giving her the gifts, and all the other presents," said Hector. "I didn't want to take her to Disney or Great Wolf Lodge, but instead I just wanted to make her princess for a day."

Montoya said so far he's helped give out about 27 hundred smoke detectors.
