SAN ANTONIO (AP) - A Texas grand jury has decided not to indict sheriff's deputies in the fatal shooting of a domestic-violence suspect.

The Bexar (BEAR) County grand jury decision came Wednesday in San Antonio in the death of Gilbert Flores.

In civil court filings, the family of the 41-year suspect alleged Bexar County sheriff's deputies Greg Vasquez and Robert Sanchez used excessive force against Flores. In a partially obscured video of the Aug. 28 incident outside San Antonio, Flores appeared to have raised his arms before the deputies fatally shot him. Investigators say a second video shows Flores holding a knife.

Flores' family is suing the county, sheriff's office and two deputies in federal court for unspecified compensation, alleging that Flores' civil rights were violated. County officials categorically denied the allegations.
