AUSTIN (AP) — Three Austin police officers will not be charged in the shooting death of a man who authorities say pointed a BB pistol at an officer.

The Travis County district attorney's office said Friday a grand jury spent 11 hours reviewing evidence and testimony from nine witnesses in the July 2015 shooting death of 25-year-old Richard Munroe. The grand jury decided officers John Nelson, Stephen Johnson and Matt Murphy should not face charges.

Audio recordings show Munroe called 911 and told the dispatcher he "just wanted to talk to somebody." The dispatcher told responding officers Munroe appeared upset.

Munroe emerged from his house with a gun. Officers tried to use a stun gun but it was ineffective and shot Munroe when he pointed his weapon at one of them.
