Gov. Abbott Calls Out Obama Admin For Shorting Texas Vets

AUSTIN (1080 KRLD) - Texas Governor Greg Abbott called out the Obama administration for not doing enough for Texas Veterans.
Gov. Abbott joined Senator John Cornyn and U.S. Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert McDonald in visiting both the VA Health Care Center and the University of Texas Health Science Center in Harlingen to discuss ways to expand healthcare options for veterans in the Rio Grande Valley.
Because of the high concentration of Veterans in the region, Abbott told South Texas Veterans that State and Federal parties need to work together to get a VA Hospital Built. The nearest VA hospital is in San Antonio. "The time is now when we can come together in the State, in the United States Military, in the members of Congress and in the Obama administration and serve our men and women who have served us by giving them the urgent care they need."
Abbott also took part in a round table discussion with the Texas Congressional delegation. They covered ways to expand healthcare options for veterans in the region. "Today is a step toward solving those problems. Our veterans have waited too long. Their care and their need is too high."
