Not Just You: Google Server Issue Brings Down Services Like YouTube, Snapchat
(CBSDFW.COM) - It wasn't just you. There appeared to be a server outage of Google Cloud services that affected applications like YouTube, Snapchat and Gmail in parts of the U.S.
Google quickly became aware of the issue and provided updates on its Google Cloud status dashboard. In the latest update at 7:09 p.m. CT, the company said the issues were resolved and that it will investigate what caused the issue to happen.
The network congestion issue in eastern USA, affecting Google Cloud, G Suite, and YouTube has been resolved for all affected users as of 4:00pm US/Pacific.
We will conduct an internal investigation of this issue and make appropriate improvements to our systems to help prevent or minimize future recurrence. We will provide a detailed report of this incident once we have completed our internal investigation. This detailed report will contain information regarding SLA credits.
Many on social media voiced their frustrations as the outage affected numerous services that rely on Google Cloud. It appeared the East Coast was affected the most, but the issue was reported throughout the U.S.
The hashtag #YouTubeDOWN trended on Twitter as the issue affected the ability to watch videos and livestreams.
