GARLAND (CBS11) - Many tornado victims have not picked up their mail or provided a forwarding address to USPS causing bins to pile up at the South Garland branch.
"I think, some people, maybe due to shock, or just not knowing what to do, have not even picked up their mail," said mail carrier Tony Santilli.
Santilli lost nearly 200 stops from his route after the tornado on December 26, 2015.
"I know a lot of them personally, and I was sitting there going… 'oh man,'" said Santilli while taking CBS 11 along his route. "Well, the Howard's house is messed up, but they're still there. And I was telling my wife, the Henson's house is gone."
The post office will continue to hold mail for anyone affected by the tornadoes.
Some residents stop by once a week or more to pick up.
Officials plan to hold the all of the mail until it's claimed.
They hope most residents will fill out a temporary forwarding address on the USPS website.
