GARLAND (CBSDFW.COM) - Garland Police are investigating three robberies that occurred in the northern part of the city while the juveniles were either waiting at the bus stop or walking to school.

They believe the teens were targeted for their cell phones.

All of the victims said that they were approached by two men, were assaulted and had their cell phones stolen. Lt. Pedro Barineau said that one occasion a gun fell out of one of the suspects pockets.

"Not only are they robbing the children of our community but they are armed. My concern is that this might escalate and they may kill somebody for their cell phone," said Barineau.

Parents said that the district notified them about the incidents with an email on Thursday afternoon.

"My first reaction was just shock," said Tiffany Goddbiss. Goddbiss said that her son walks to the bus stop near the area where one of the attacks happened.

"It makes me nervous that a weapon was used and I will probably watch him walk to the bus stop," she said.

A district bus captured video of the suspects and vehicle. Police said that they have increased patrols and will monitor all of the bus stops.
