GARLAND (CBSDFW.COM) - After investigating recent copper thefts, in an industrial area near the 3600 block of West Miller Road, Garland police located and arrested three people for the crimes.
While on patrol in the area, officers noticed a U-Haul truck that had been parked, but upon their arrival began leaving the area. The driver committed a traffic violation and was pulled over. After talking with the driver at length, police learned the driver had been involved in two other heists and that there was an actual copper theft in progress.
Garland police contacted the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), who immediately launched their helicopter. The DPS chopper quickly located two men, on the rooftop of a building, who indeed appeared to be in the act of stealing copper.
Roderick Crockett, Curtis Duren, and Steven Sanders are all charged with with Theft of Copper less than $20,000. The trio remains in the Garland City Jail
