FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - The Fort Worth ISD school board approved several plans Tuesday night aimed at improving schools that are struggling.

Board members approved targeted improvement plans as well as turnaround plans.

The board also voted to ask the Texas Education Agency for class size waivers.

This was the first board meeting since the district received a warning letter from the TEA saying what schools need significant improvement.

Those schools are I.M. Terrell, John T. White and Maude Logan Elementary Schools as well as Forest Oak Middle School.

Superintendent Dr. Kent Scriber responded to the TEA's assessment in a letter saying in part, "Fort Worth ISD is committed to supporting all of our campuses in our ongoing effort to improve the educational outcomes for all of our students.  We also stand ready to work with the Texas Education Agency in that effort."
