NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A Texas fugitive who was wanted for failing to register as a sex offender has been arrested in New Orleans.

A news release on Wednesday from Louisiana Attorney General Buddy Caldwell's office said 31-year-old Michael Anthony Buie was arrested, but did not specify when he was booked.

Authorities say Buie was previously convicted in Dallas County for solicitation to commit aggravated assault of a child under the age of 14. He was required to register as a sex offender but failed to do so.

Buie fled from his parole in 2013. Authorities eventually tracked him down to an address in New Orleans.

He has subsequently been charged in Louisiana with failing to register as a sex offender. It isn't immediately clear if he has an attorney.
