Frisco To Consider Smoking Ban At Public Parks

FRISCO, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - City Council members in Frisco will consider an ordinance that could snuff out smoking at public parks.

Up for debate at tonight's council meeting is whether to place tougher restrictions on smoking and possessing tobacco products at public parks.

The issue of tighter restrictions began earlier this year when the city council added e-cigarettes and liquid nicotine to its ban on smoking at public venues.

Now the council wants to know if parks can be included in that ordinance.

Chief Building Official Steve Covington says the council will consider two options: to prohibit smoking and/or the possession of any form of tobacco products at parks.

A decision could come tonight.
