FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A middle school teacher remains in jail on Wednesday, accused of killing two friends at a Halloween party early Sunday morning. Police have not yet released a motive for the shooting deaths, but friends of the two victims are remembering the men who died.

Destinee Berry and Christina Aguirre broke down in tears as reality set in, that they have seen their pals for the last time. They explained that Daniel Haros and Phillip Evans were roommates and inseparable friends, so close that they were like family to each other. The loss has been overwhelming.

"I couldn't process it. I was in shock," said Berry. "It was very devastating. Still shocked. Still don't understand."

Haros and Evans were gunned down in front of a Fort Worth home early Sunday morning. According to police, the men made a brief five-minute stop at a Halloween party hosted by a neighbor. Teacher and fellow neighbor Cary Heath was there as well, before the 35-year-old husband and father returned to his own home to retrieve an assault rifle.

Heath came back to the party and allegedly opened fire. But nobody knows why he would have decided to fire shots.

After the violent incident, Heath allegedly admitted to killing the men to multiple people, including his own wife. In the arrest affidavit, he gave his 1-year-old child to someone shortly after the shooting and said, "This is the last time I will see the baby. I killed two people."

Heath then went to work at Permenter Middle School in Cedar Hill on Monday morning and taught a full day of classes before police arrived to arrest him in the afternoon. He is now in jail on a $1 million bond.

"I'm very confused as to what happened," said Berry. "A teacher with a family who just decided to, you know, kill two innocent bystanders who literally gave nothing but love to this world." Friends of the two victims are holding a fundraiser on Thursday night at Dalton's Corner in Burleson. The event is to remember Haros and Evans, and help with their funeral expenses.
