PLANO (CBSDFW) - Family and friends are reeling after the death of popular food blogger and media personality, Stacy Fawcett. The 45-year-old was stabbed by her 19-year-old son, McCann Utu, Jr, who also killed his 17-year-old brother, Josiah Utu, and then himself, according to Plano police. Friend Jay Roecker says Fawcett's passion for food went deeper than her cupcakes and s'mores.

"An angel on earth, really," he says. "She actually gave her heart and soul to her work and to the people she knew and donated her time to those who were less fortunate."

He says together they volunteered at food banks across North Texas. And, through it, she would talk about her sons, especially her concern for 19-year-old McCann, who had never been the same after a head injury while playing basketball.

"She would cry about it, but there was nothing she could do," Roecker says. "I really don't think she ever thought her life was in danger, though, so this is really shocking."

Others say there were no signs anything was wrong.

"She's always been very personable," says friend Maria Bowens. "We would sit, and we would talk, and she would always have encouraging words. You would never know if there was something going on, you would never know it because she was always smiling."

She was a single mom, and her ex-husband's family says he is broken by the loss. Stacy's brother described her as a loving, free-spirited bright light whose children were everything to her. That all three are now gone seems unbelievable to them.

"I at first was shocked, and it took me a while to process it. But I just can't imagine my life without her," says Roecker.

A Go Fund Me page has been set up for the memorial service for Stacy and her sons here.
