Make Preventing Frozen Pipes A Priority

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - The Fort Worth Fire Department has a couple of key reminders for homeowners and business owners during this freeze.

Homeowners are encouraged to turn off residential irrigation systems and protect their pipes.  Pipes at most risk for freezing include exposed pipes in unheated areas of the home, pipes in exterior walls and any plumbing on the outside of the home.

Businesses need to protect their fire sprinklers from freeze damage by leaving heating systems on at least 50 degrees overnight.  The fire department says problems with freezing in unheated buildings usually happen about 24 hours into a freeze.
