Four New Frisco Schools Lead To Major Attendance Zone Changes

FRISCO (CBS11) - Frisco Independent School District will unveil new school attendance boundary maps Monday night.
Four new schools in the district will open next fall, including Lebanon Trail High School, a middle school, and two elementary schools.
District officials said the rezoning will impact students from 12 different schools.
Lauren Bricker said she's anxious to find out if her daughter will have to go to her third different elementary school in as many years.
The Bricker family lives in the fast-growing Philips Creek Ranch neighborhood on the west side of Frisco. Her kids attended Bledsoe Elementary last year. This year they're at Hosp Elementary, and if their area is rezoned again, they could be attending a different school next year.
Bricker said, "We've gotten accustomed to the teachers here and started to have ties with classmates, families, and the staff. If we keep switching to a new school it is hard to keep that relationship."
The Bricker family's situation is not unlike many in the fast-growing school district.
On average the district is adding 3,500 new students every year and four new schools.
"The good thing is people love the schools that they are going to," said Deputy Superintendent Richard Wilkinson. "That's part of the rub though. They don't want to change schools."
Wilkinson said he understands some families may not like the changes but said it's a necessity to prevent schools from becoming overcrowded.
