Fort Worth Teen Unharmed After Car Crashes Through Home

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – Fort Worth Police and Firefighters said a teen was lucky to be alive and unharmed after her car crashed into a home at 5501 Penwell Drive.

Police said a 17-year-old teen drove her car through the backyard of a residence and ended up going through the garage, Saturday afternoon.

After the crash a piece of 2 x 4 lumber fell on the car and pushed through the windshield.

The piece of lumber hit the top-half of the steering wheel, which police said saved the driver from serious injury.

Firefighters and witnesses said they believed the driver had possibly fallen asleep, which is what led to the accident.

The patient was taken from the scene by a parent to a local hospital. Fire crews have secured the residence.

The scene and incident remain under investigation by Fort Worth Police.
