Suspect Shot By Fort Worth Officers, Taken To Hospital After Police Chase

WHITE SETTLEMENT (CBSDFW.COM) - Fort Worth police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that started as a police chase out of White Settlement. Officials say a suspect was shot several times and taken to a hospital in unknown condition.

White Settlement police were called to investigate a person causing a disturbance Saturday evening. Officers located the suspect's vehicle and did a traffic stop, which started a police chase.

Police say the chase went into Fort Worth before the suspect drove back to White Settlement. Fort Worth police assisted in the chase. Spike strips were used to stop the suspect's vehicle.

The suspect fired several rounds towards Fort Worth officers. According to police, the officers returned fire, striking the suspect several times.

The suspect was taken to the hospital, and his condition is unknown.

Neighbors tell CBS 11 they heard gunshots near their home. "It scared me. I was sitting on the front porch, and they were right there next to my house. They were real close," said Mike Massey.

One officer injured his elbow during the pursuit but will be okay. No other officers were injured during the incident.
