Police: Body Found Connected To Double Homicide, Beheading
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Using a jackhammer and shovels, Fort Worth police found a body inside a house on the city's southside.
Homicide detectives, crime scene investigators and a vehicle from the Tarrant County Medical Examiners Office were all at the scene before the lunch hour.
Law enforcement was busy at the house in the 6400 block of Woodway -- not far from Southwest High School. Police said this morning's discovery of human remains is connected to a double homicide last month in Arlington.
That was a case where one of the victims was beheaded, and some of the remains were found buried at a house. Police in Arlington have a man in custody connected to the two killings.
They arrested Hector Acosta Ojeda for killing a 27-year-old man and a teenage girl.
And it was while investigating that violent double homicide, that police received a tip to check the Fort Worth house for a man who is missing.
"The Fort Worth Police Department has checked all their databases to see if this individual that was located, matches any one of our missing persons," Fort Worth police spokesman Jimmy Pollozani said.
Neighbors and people who work in the area say this is the second day that officials have taken up shop at the house.
Fort Worth police confirm that a CrimeStoppers tip was placed to an agency outside the city advising them to check out the house. Police also said there was a great need to protect the tipster.
As for the house on Woodway, people in the area said they have seen a lot of people in and out of the house over the years, but until yesterday the house was vacant for a few months.
Police and neighbors said it went up for sale recently, and was in the middle of being renovated.
Neighbor Crystal Guerra said, "It's kinda suspicious, makes you wonder if maybe somebody was hiding a body in there or something illegal going on. Not knowing it kinda makes you worry, especially when you have kids. I walk up and down this street everyday from school."
The house is directly across the street from the Department of Public Safety and CBS11 sources say police have asked for surveillance camera video from the building in hopes of helping with the investigation.
