FORT WORTH (AP) -- The Fort Worth Police Department says an officer suspected of drunken driving has been placed on restricted duty.

The 28-year-old officer was arrested on suspicion of DWI after officers responded to a single-vehicle accident early Tuesday in east Fort Worth.

Police say his gun and badge have been confiscated and that he can't act as a peace officer in any capacity pending the investigation's outcome.

It's the second alcohol-related arrest since 2010 for the officer, a 7-year veteran of the police department.

He was arrested in June 2010 for public intoxication after wrecking his SUV and abandoning it on a railroad tracks in Fort Worth. He pleaded no contest to the Class C misdemeanor and was suspended from the department for three days.
