Scribner Named As New Fort Worth ISD Superintendent

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - It's official! During a meeting Tuesday night, the Fort Worth Independent School District hired Dr. Kent Paredes Scribner as the new superintendent.
Scribner, currently superintendent of the largest high school district in the state of Arizona, was the lone finalist for the position, but had to endure a state-mandated 21-day waiting period. It expired on September 1.
School Board President Jacinto Ramos Junior said, "Dr. Kent Scribner is a proven leader who is nationally respected --- and, quite simply, he is the right fit for Fort Worth. He will take our students to the next level. And, he will address the achievement gap."
In addition to his position in Arizona, Dr. Scribner also serves as commissioner for the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics.
Commenting on his upcoming move to North Texas the new Superintendent said, "Although leaving Phoenix will be difficult, I am eager to serve the students and community of Fort Worth. Leading Fort Worth ISD is a tremendous opportunity for me both personally and professionally. My parents, sister and her family live in the North Texas area. I am convinced that Fort Worth ISD is poised for great success."
Dr. Scribner will officially assume his position as head of the FWISD on October 15, 2015.
