Fort Worth ISD Approves Contract For Interim Superintendent
FORT WORTH (CBS 11 NEWS) - Dr. Patricia Linares is the new interim superintendent for the Fort Worth Independent School District.
Friday afternoon principals and teachers at a special called meeting greeted her.
"I am honored and proud to serve as the Interim Superintendent of the Fort Worth Independent School District," Dr. Linares told board members. "It is my goal to build on the successes to date and work towards continued improvement for students of this great district. The Fort Worth ISD is made up of great students, teachers, principals, central office staff, auxiliary staff, school board members and community members dedicated to the success of our young people."
Dr. Linares is coming back to the Fort Worth ISD after Walter Dansby abruptly called it quits last week. She signed a six-month contract with the district and will be getting paid $150,000.
Dr. Linares retired as Deputy Superintendent in 2010. She says she doesn't know the details of why Dansby left, but she's ready to lead the district.
"My role is to move the district forward, to get us stabilized for us to take care of our children and to move towards the next school year," she said. "The school year is coming very quickly and we have a lot of work to do we are ready to role up our sleeves and get to work."
Dr. Linares is originally from San Antonio, but began her teaching career in the Dallas ISD. Her first day on the job will be on Monday.
