FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - One person was killed and another person was critically injured after a car crash along Interstate-30 in Fort Worth early Monday morning. The incident happened just after 3:00 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the highway, a little bit past Cooks Lane.

A passenger in the crashed SUV told police that she looked up just as the vehicle slammed into a big rig. The SUV rolled off of the highway and one person was pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger was rushed by ambulance to a nearby hospital. The passenger who spoke to police was not badly hurt.

The driver of the big rig was also not injured. The names of those involved in the crash were not released.

Traffic investigators are now trying to determine what happened to cause the crash. The weather is cold, but there were no problems with road conditions. It is too early to tell if alcohol played a factor in this incident.

The crash blocked the righthand lane of westbound Interstate-30 in Fort Worth, as law enforcement officials conducted an investigation and crews worked to clean up the mess. The scene has since been cleared and traffic is running without issue once again. But you can always check the traffic map for alternate routes.
