COPPERAS COVE (AP) - A Fort Hood soldier has been arrested after police say he and another man assaulted a female soldier at an off-post party.

The soldier turned himself in Tuesday.

Copperas Cove police say they responded Sunday morning to a Fort Hood medical center after an assault was reported.

Police say the woman told officers she was kissing someone when a male soldier and a civilian from Killeen told her to leave the party.

An affidavit says the Killeen man grabbed her by the neck, pushed her against a wall, slapped and choked her until she lost consciousness. The affidavit says the soldier slapped her.

Another soldier intervened, and the woman was eventually taken to the medical center.

An arrest warrant was issued for the Killeen resident.

Fort Hood officials are investigating.
