Former Dallas City Council Candidate Arrested For Vandalism

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -  A former Dallas City Council candidate has been arrested and accused of painting graffiti in a dozen places around Dallas.

Dallas police announced they have arrested Richard Sheridan.

Last summer, police investigated the numbers "666" painted on landmarks in and around the Oak Lawn neighborhood of Dallas.

He was investigated at the time, but after a nine month investigation, Sheridan will be charged.

"The community will take great comfort knowing that the police department used every resource to solve this and take care of this.  A lot of hours were put into this case to get Mr. Sherdan where he needs to be," said Dallas Police Department LGBT Liason Officer Laura Martin.

Sheridan is being charged with graffiti at the Cathedral of Hope Church  and the Legacy of Life monument.  If found guilty, Sheridan could face between five and 20 years behind bars.
