Former Cowboys DE Hatcher Out 4-6 Weeks With Knee Surgery
ASHBURN, Va. (CBSDFW.COM/AP) -- Former Cowboys defensive end Jason Hatcher says he will have surgery on his left knee and will be sidelined four to six weeks.
Hatcher -- who signed a four-year, $27.5 million contract with the Redskins in March as a free agent -- said Wednesday he will have an arthroscopic procedure to clean up some cartilage.
The injury comes as the Redskins are wrapping up their offseason practices. If the timetable holds, he would be able to practice around the start of training camp on July 23.
Hatcher wore a compression wrap around his left leg as he watched Wednesday's minicamp session.
The 31-year-old led the Cowboys with a career-high 11 sacks in 2013, as the team transitioned to a four-man front.
Hatcher made his first Pro Bowl after he was named the replacement for injured Baltimore Ravens nose tackle Haloti Ngata.
