FORT WORTH (105.3 THE FAN) - Former Cowboys special teams player Claude "C.J." Spillman has been sentenced by a Tarrant County judge to 5-years in prison in relation to a 2014 sexual assault incident at a Grapevine hotel.

Grapevine police say a woman reported Spillman raped her Sept. 20 at the Gaylord Texan Resort, where he was staying.

Testifying in his own defense Thursday, Spillman acknowledged having sex with the woman but insisted it was consensual.

Spillman became a free agent in March 2015.
