DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas County health officials say they could confirm a third flu-related death this week, and some hospitals say they're seeing a sharp spike in the number of sick people walking through their doors. Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital reports the number of flu cases coming into the emergency room is doubling each week.

Also this week, two more North Texas cities (Irving and Plano) are expected to see a peak in flu cases, according to Columbia University's flu predictor program. Last week, the program predicted spikes in cases in both in Dallas and Fort Worth.

Dallas County has already reported two flu-related deaths this season. A third flu-related death could be confirmed with autopsy results. So far this season, Dallas County has confirmed 3,871 positive influenza tests. Tarrant County has reported two flu-related deaths.

Even though this year's vaccine is not a perfect match against all strains of the flu virus, health experts still urge people to get the flu shot. Those most at risk for complications from the disease, kids under 5, pregnant women, the elderly and those who already have a weakened immune system are specifically encouraged to get the shot.
