Flower Mound Marcus HS Student Arrested For Bringing Gun To School

FLOWER MOUND (CBSDFW.COM) - A Flower Mound Marcus High School student was arrested Thursday after he was caught with a handgun.

Flower Mound police say a 16-year-old was taken into custody after school resource officers were notified about the student possibly having a gun and pulled him out of class to search him.

Officers discovered that the student did have a small caliber handgun in his possession but the weapon wasn't loaded. However, police did add that the suspect was also in possession of bullets.

The student faces felony charges for possessing a firearm in a prohibited place.

According to Flower Mound Police, two students contacted on-campus officers, informing them of the armed student. "He was taken into custody immediately," Captain Wess Griffin said.

Despite the gun incident, the school did not initiate an emergency lockdown for students.

Some parents said their children were alarmed and afraid. Parent Terri White said her daughter left the school, out of concern for her safety. "I'm sorry, we should've been notified immediately. There should have been a lock down immediately. It wasn't. Policy wasn't followed. That upsets me," she said.
