Flights Of Our Fathers Air Show In Terrell

Many folks don't know that British pilots were trained to fly during World War II in the United States because it was safer than the skies over England. The No. 1 British Flying School was located in Terrell and the museum, of the same name, keeps those memories alive.
"Franklin Roosevelt and Winston Churchill formulated a deal where the United States would help our allies in fighting the war" said the President of the No. 1 British Flying School Museum Rudy Bowling.
This weekend's "Flights of Our Fathers Air Show & Fly-In" will pay homage to the British men that trained in Terrell during World War II.
There will be static displays of many World War II era aircraft, a car & motorcycle show, aerobatic flying and a fun zone for kids. The No. 1 British Flying School Museum will also offer rides in a Stearman Biplane that was used to train here during 1944-1945. Rides must be scheduled and will cost $150 for a 20-30 minute ride of a lifetime!
"We are going to have our Stearman PT-27. It's flown by Retired Navy Commander Philip Webb and it's a real thrill to get up there and fly with the wind in your face" Bowling added.
Gates open at 8:15 am at the Terrell Municipal Airport. Admission is $10 per person or $20 per carload...cash only please!
