North Texas sees first 100°+ day ahead of schedule

NORTH TEXAS (CBSNewsTexas.com) - North Texas saw its first 100°+ day in the Metroplex Sunday. The official high at DFW Airport was 101°, which we typically reach on July 1—so, we're ahead of schedule.

If you're a fan of the heat we have plenty more of it on the way this week.

Highs will could get up to 107° Wednesday but there is a chance it could be even hotter than that. As of now, you can expect temperatures to stay at 100° or greater through at least Saturday. Please take precautions to avoid heat stroke or heat exhaustion, including staying hydrated.

A heat advisory will stay in effect through 8:00 p.m. Monday, which means feels-like temperatures will be up to 110°. If you're unaware, the diagram below shows you the difference between a heat advisory and an excessive heat warning.

While most of North Texas will stay dry Sunday evening, there is a chance for areas northeast to see a few showers and storms later in the night, with an isolated strong-to-severe storm possible. Otherwise, expect a mostly dry and dangerously hot week ahead. Be sure to practice heat safety tips!
