Thunderstorms, potential flooding amid cooler temps across North Texas

NORTH TEXAS — A Weather Alert has been issued for today due to thunderstorms that will continue until 10 p.m. The severe threat is low, but small hail and localized flooding are possible. We have a lot of festivals this weekend, so please know where you can head inside if a thunderstorm moves into your area.

The storms we are seeing now on First Alert Radar will continue to track east this morning, giving us a lull in activity around midday.

This morning's round of rain already brought widespread 1" – 2" rainfall totals and another 1"- 3" are possible through the rest of the day. Please be mindful on ponding on roadways and remember Turn Around, Don't Drown.

Not only is it a grey Saturday, but a chilly one as well. Temperatures are holding in the mid 50s and will likely drop a few degrees this afternoon.

Our Sunday starts off with cloud cover and chilly, but gives way to sunshine in the afternoon as temperatures climb into the mid 60s. The kids will want the jackets on Monday morning with temperatures in the upper 40s, but they won't need them in the afternoon with sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70s. The sunshine continues Tuesday as temperatures warm up back to 80. Keep the rain gear handy for later this week as we are tracking more rain and storms.
