First Alert Weather: Parts of North Texas could see strong winds and storms
11:40 update: There are no severe storm warnings as the line of storms moves into the metroplex. Damaging wind gusts are still the biggest threat. North Texas will be under a wind advisory until 2 am. By the time you are on the roads for your Monday morning commute, storms will have cleared.
10:39 pm update: No severe weather warning at this time, but a strong storm is moving over the northeast county corner of #WiseCounty at 50mph. Strong winds are still likely.
The First Alert Weather Team continues to track a line of severe storms that could bring damaging winds to North Texas.
Between now and 11 pm storms will enter the northwest areas of North Texas and we could see a few severe thunderstorm warnings.
Storms are expected to weaken as the line moves east and encounters stable air over our area. However, as the storms weaken, there is the potential for some damaging wind gusts.
Between 11 pm-2 am the weakening storms will move through the 35 corridor so don't be surprised if you hear some rumbles of thunder.
The main threat we see right now is potentially damaging winds. A wind advisory is in effect until 2 am for all of North Texas. Wind could gust to near 50 mph as the cold front moves through.
Once the cold front moves through the winds die down and we see a beautiful start to the work week.
