Firefighter's Widow Demands Change, Accountability, for Husband's Death

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - In a story broken by CBS 11's I-Team more than a year ago,  the widow of a Dallas firefighter will hold a press conference tomorrow to demand accountability and change within the Dallas Fire and Rescue Department.

Jenny Wilson is expected to express her frustration over state laws that make it difficult …if not impossible … to file a lawsuit against the DFR and the city of Dallas for mistakes made … leading up to the death of her husband, Stan Wilson.

Wilson and her attorney, Barry Hasten, will also call for Dallas fire officials and city leaders to be held accountable for the mistakes made before the veteran firefighter's death.

As part of a lengthy investigation, the I-Team learned that Stan Wilson and other firefighters were called back into an apartment complex engulfed by fire ….even after it had already been searched …and even as it was teetering from powerful streams of water pounding its roof.

Wilson died on May 20, 2013 when the structure collapsed on him.

The commander on the scene has since retired from the fire department.
