JUAREZ, MEXICO (CBS11) – The final preparations for Pope Francis' visit to Juarez are complete.

Now the excitement is building for the hundreds of thousands in Juarez and in El Paso who will welcome the Pope on Wednesday.

Juarez streets are lined with posters and signs welcoming the Pope.

Those same streets are filled with an unprecedented amount of military and police patrolling the area.

The papal mass will be held in an area known as "El Punto," about 50 yards from the Texas border.

A specially built ramp the Pope will use to give a blessing to Texans on the U.S. side of the border was getting final touch ups on Tuesday.

Pablo Orozco, the man in charge of making it pristine, said he was excited about the papal visit adding, "We're ready to welcome him with all our hearts and give him a warm welcome."

While the mass in Juarez is expected to bring out massive crowds, tens of thousand more are expected to pack into Sun Bowl Stadium on the UTEP campus where a simulcast of the mass will be broadcast.
