Final Four Cleanup Begins At AT&T Stadium
ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Turn off the lights. The game is over. Cleanup is already underway at AT&T Stadium in Arlington after the Connecticut Huskies have been named this year's NCAA men's basketball champions. But organizers across North Texas hope to do it again and again, already looking ahead to the next big event.
Tens of thousands of basketball fans were in town on Monday night for the big game, and they will be loading up their suitcases and heading out on Tuesday. Kentucky fans seemed to outnumber Connecticut fans across the DFW area, but the real winners were the North Texas cities which reaped the economic benefits.
By most accounts, everyone had a good time. Aside from some rain, the weather was favorable -- far better than the ice that covered DFW when the Super Bowl was here. North Texas showed that it can successfully host a big event.
And now, as the basketball court is still being pulled up, the spotlight turns to the next big event. There is a lot of enthusiam among city officials in Arlington, Dallas and Fort Worth. Jerry Jones announced this past weekend that the American County Music Awards will be holding its 50th anniversary show at AT&T Stadium next year. That show already has the hospitality industry buzzing.
