Final Debate For Gubernatorial Candidates

DALLAS (AP) - Democrat Wendy Davis has one last debate with Republican Greg Abbott to try to narrow the gap in the Texas governor's race.

Their debate Tuesday night in Dallas will likely attract more viewers than their first meeting earlier this month in the Rio Grande Valley. Davis has five weeks before Election Day to catch Abbott and overcome polling deficits.

But Abbott is the one entering the debate on the defensive. His office is under scrutiny over Gov. Rick Perry's Texas Enterprise Fund that has awarded a half-billion dollars to companies that include Toyota and Facebook.

A state audit last week found that some companies received awards despite never submitting formal applications. Davis accuses Abbott of failing in his oversight duties as attorney general.

Abbott's office calls the claims political posturing.
