FC Dallas & TXA 21 Expand Partnership For 2015 Season
FRISCO, Texas -- FC Dallas today named local television partner TXA 21 (KTXA) as the official "Home of FC Dallas Soccer," with a significant increase in the number of games airing on the station in 2015.
TXA 21, which is available in all Dallas-Fort Worth television homes over the air and on local cable, satellite and telco providers, will air 20 of the team's 34 regular-season games. The remaining 14 matches will either be available on a second local outlet yet to be determined or on national television with one match on ESPN2, three on FOX Sports 1, three on Univision and three on UniMas.
"MLS continues to gain popularity, and FC Dallas has a very dedicated fan base," said TXA 21 and CBS 11 President and General Manager Gary Schneider. "We're pleased to expand our relationship with the team to make even more of their games available for local fans on broadcast television."
Popular play-by-play man Mark Followill will return to call most of the games, with SportsRadio 1310 The Ticket's Bob Sturm joining the broadcast team to handle play-by-play duties for the others.
"We are committed to bringing quality, entertaining soccer to North Texas," said FC Dallas President Dan Hunt. "We've enjoyed quite a growth spurt as a league in the last five years and can't wait to continue bringing the beautiful game into more and more homes through our expanded partnership with TXA 21."
FC Dallas is scheduled to open the 2015 season at home versus San Jose on March 7. The match, presented by AdvoCare, will kick off at 7:30 p.m. CT at Toyota Stadium. The first 7,500 fans through the gates will receive free mini-scarves.
