FRISCO (AP) - FC Dallas has acquired defender Bakary Soumare from Montreal for midfielder Kyle Bekker.

The 29-year-old Soumare was the second overall pick out of Virginia by the Chicago Fire in 2007. He has played 13 international matches for his native Mali.

Soumare was the first pick in the MLS re-entry draft last December and started nine games for Montreal, giving him 115 starts in his seven-year career.

Bekker started twice in eight appearances for FC Dallas this season. He was acquired in an offseason trade with Toronto FC and now is back in his native Canada. He has played 20 matches for the Canadian national team.

FC Dallas has 32 points, most in the Western Conference along with Seattle and Vancouver.
