FC Dallas Foundation Donates 2nd Community Field

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – The FC Dallas Foundation will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday to unveil its second community field located at 3737 Goldman Street in West Dallas. It will benefit children who live in the neighborhood.

"This fully lit field will provide a safe playing environment for the youth of West Dallas," said FC Dallas Foundation Director Melissa Reddick. "It's another testament of the Foundation's mission to positively impact the health and well-being of disadvantaged youth. This field will also facilitate further growth for the community."

Mercy Street, a West-Dallas nonprofit committed to rebuilding the community and investing in the lives of students will run the day-to-day operations of the field.

"The FC Dallas Foundation Field blesses this community and the parents of this community with a safe place for our children to play every day, all day, on a great field," said Mercy Street Director of Sports, Lee Jackson. "Partnering with an organization like FC Dallas is an amazing opportunity. It is a great start which we can continue to build upon."

The construction of the field was made possible by grants from The Real Estate Council and Teammates for Kids as well as contributions from Texas Capital Bank, AdvoCare and Hunt Sports Group. Musco Lighting and Paragon Sports Constructors also donated a portion of the work.

"This project illustrates how The Real Estate Council Foundation collaborates with community stakeholders and brings together the financial and human capital of our donors, members and member companies to transform neighborhoods," said The Real Estate Council Foundation Director Robin Minick. "We're proud of the role we've played in partnership with FC Dallas to provide a safe environment and facilitate healthy, active lifestyles for youth living in West Dallas."

Children may enjoy a character soccer skills camp hosted by FC Dallas and the ProPlayers Foundation after the ceremony.

Located across from the Lakewest YMCA and near Pinkston High School, the FC Dallas Foundation Field will serve the population of 25,000 in West Dallas. The field is a modified replica of the Freddy Field, which was constructed at Maple Lawn Elementary in 2011.

The FC Dallas Foundation is the charitable arm of FC Dallas and Toyota Stadium. It strives to positively impact the health and well-being of disadvantaged youth through the sport of soccer. Through its programming and projects, the foundation seeks to promote healthy, active children; encourages character building and service learning; and supports disadvantaged through locally and globally.
