DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Law enforcement officials are investigating a fatal shooting in the Dallas medical district. The incident happened just before 3:30 a.m. near the intersection of Chattanooga Place and Arlington Park Drive, not far from UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Police said that there was some type of altercation between two individuals in a neighborhood, located only a couple of blocks away from the hospital. Authorities at UT Southwestern Medical Center actually heard the gunshots and found the victim in a front yard.

The victim was later identified by authorities as a 24-year-old Andre Davis. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died on his way to Parkland Hospital in Dallas.

The owner of the home where the victim was found was not there when the shooting took place. Police are now trying to speak with other witnesses, and searching for a vehicle that was observed leaving the scene at around the same time as the shooting.

Officials have not yet released any additional information about the possible suspect in this case. Police did put a man into the back of a patrol car on Thursday morning, but there has been no indication that this individual was placed under arrest for the fatal shooting.
