NEW YORK (CBSDFW.COM) - French fashion designer Sophie Theallet pledged never to create clothing for incoming first lady Melania Trump in an open letter posted to her Twitter account Thursday night.

The New York-based designer explained her brand "stands against all discrimination and prejudice" and calls her runway shows, campaigns and celebrity dressings "a celebration of diversity and reflection of the world we live in."

Theallet is an immigrant who has made her mark in the fashion world, even dressing First Lady Michelle Obama for the past eight years.

Her open letter also states that as a "family-owned company, our bottom line is not just about money" and urges other designers to take a similar stand, stating "integrity is our only currency."
